One-of-a-kind vintage handbags, designed and hand-embellished by Claire Jane

These are not simply handbags.

They are pieces of history — discovered, reimagined and transformed by hand into one-of-a-kind wearable art.

I have always been drawn to decadence, glamour, rock ’n’ roll, beautiful craftsmanship and things that refuse to blend in.

When I discover a vintage handbag from the 1950s, 60s or 70s, I don’t just see an old bag.

I see a blank canvas.

The incredible frames, sculptural handles and beautifully constructed shapes come from an era when handbags were made to last. Some have already lived for more than half a century — and somehow, they are still here.

And that fascinates me.

I often wonder about the women who carried them before me.

Where did they go?
What did they wear?
What parties did these bags attend?
What cities have they travelled through?
What stories would they tell if they could?

That history is part of their magic.

THEN I BEGIN THEIR NEXT CHAPTER.

Every handbag is individually designed and hand-embellished by me, Claire Jane.

I take the original vintage piece and transform it using my own combination of feathers, vintage jewelry, unexpected embellishments and details collected and sourced from around the world.

Some of the vintage jewelry I discover dates as far back as the 1920s — giving one beautiful piece of history a completely new life alongside another.

There is no formula.

There is no production line.

And I don’t want two handbags to look alike.

I design each one individually, allowing the shape, character and history of the original vintage handbag to inspire what it becomes.

Every feather, piece of jewelry and embellishment is placed by hand until the transformation feels complete.

The result is somewhere between vintage handbag, sculpture and wearable art.

Something glamorous.

Something rebellious.

Something with a past.

And something completely, unmistakably Claire Jane.

Every finished Claire Jane handbag is a true one-of-a-kind creation.

Once that particular combination of vintage handbag, jewelry, feathers and embellishments comes together, there will never be another one exactly like it.

That’s the point.

I want the woman carrying one of my handbags to know she isn’t carrying something mass-produced or something thousands of other women own.

She’s carrying a piece of history that I have personally discovered, designed and transformed by hand into something entirely new.

Yesterday’s glamour.
Today’s attitude.
Tomorrow’s vintage.
