I get asked all the time where my inspiration comes from for my vintage feathered handbags. First off, I love decadence, elegance, beauty, luxury and dress items that have timeless style with an edge. I love classic shapes and I have created a cool style that will go with any outfit from that little black dress to a baggy sweater and jeans. The vintage handbags I find and ‘up-cycle’ are from the 1950’s, 60’s & 70’s. These handbags were made to last and have strong classic shapes, frames and handles. They are very sturdy and even though some of them are still around after 50+ years, they are in amazing condition. I love to work with the strong-framed handbags as I feel they represent strength through time. I always think of the women who used these handbags before and what the stories of their lives might have been.

I wonder what each vintage piece has seen and where it has traveled throughout the world. ‘Up-cycling’ these vintage handbags in my designs are blank canvases to me on which I can create never-ending art and designs. There are so many beautiful colors and combinations, in addition to unlimited themes to draw inspiration from. I also seek out vintage jewelry for the embellishments from all over the world, some of which date back as early as the 1920’s.
